Please choose three (3) of the following questions and answer them in a minimum of one hundred words each. Each question is worth ten (10) points and you may earn up to a maximum of thirty (30) points in total. You are free to send in as many answers as you wish, but will receive no further points for any questions answered after the initial three.

 

1: Invent a religion. Tell me its origins, its rules, its beliefs, and its prevalence. Is it the main religion in your world or a competing religion? How do its followers recruit people?

 

2: Tell me about a war that has happened in the history of your world. Who was it between, who started it, and who won it? What effects did it have on those not involved, and what lasting effects did it have on the world?

 

3: Choose any event that happened in the history of your world and tell me about it. Why is it remembered? Is it still celebrated in any way?

 

4: Do you think history is an important part of your world building process? Why or why not?

 

5: Think of a world in one of your favourite novels and have a look at its history. What parts of history are focused on? If there is very little, is there anything that could be assumed about the history from statements made about the present? 

 

 

 

Extra Credit

 

Choose one (1) of the following for a maximum of thirty points.

 

Write: Write up a timeline of a history spanning at least five hundred years. It can be as detailed as you like, but needs to have a minimum of two major events per century. Note wars, important births and deaths, and changes in political or religious policies that have affected the way the world works.

 

Illustrate: Draw a picture of the moment that your world was created. You can make it funny, serious, or anywhere in between. Be creative!

 

Convince: Using the religion that you have created above, assume you are a follower and I am a non-believer. Recruit me to your cause through whatever means you feel are necessary. You could write me a letter, draw me a picture, or do anything else that you think will sway me to your side.
